Kashmiri Comedian Bashir Ahmad Passes Away

Budgam, July 28 (KNS): Bashir Ahmad Bhat, popularly known as Bashir Kotur, passed away at his home in Hanjigund Chadoora on Monday. He was a well-known name in Kashmir’s traditional comedy and theatre.

Family members said Bhat had been unwell for some time and was recently admitted to a hospital ICU. He was discharged on Saturday but his condition worsened the following day. He passed away on Monday afternoon, they said.

Many from theatre groups and cultural bodies had worked with him in the past and described him as someone who shaped stage performance in the region.

People from various districts, including artists and former colleagues, have expressed grief over the news of his death. Some recalled his early performances in small villages where he would often draw large crowds.(KNS).
