Chennai, Sep 17 (KNS): A 13-member media delegation from Srinagar Kashmir , currently on a five-day media exposure tour of Chennai organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Srinagar, on Thursday completed the fourth day of engagements with visits to key national institutions and infrastructure projects.

The tour aims to provide journalists from Jammu and Kashmir firsthand exposure to the country's technological advancement, industrial self-reliance and developmental initiatives under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The delegation began the day with a visit to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, one of the premier coach manufacturing units of Indian Railways, where the journalists were given a detailed walkthrough of assembly lines dedicated to Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches.

During an interaction with senior ICF engineers and technical officials, the delegation was briefed on modern fabrication techniques and safety standards adopted in the manufacturing of LHB coaches.

Anupam Chauhan, Chief Workshop Engineer, LHB Division, briefed the delegation about the indigenous engineering and manufacturing evolution of Vande Bharat train sets as well as concepts and trials related to experimental Vande Bharat freight trains aimed at high-speed cargo transportation.

The delegation was also briefed about special engineering adaptations incorporated into Vande Bharat rakes for operations in Jammu and Kashmir's high-altitude and sub-zero conditions, including heating lines, anti-freeze water systems and reinforced cab climate controls.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The journalists subsequently visited Chennai Port Trust, where senior port authorities briefed them about the strategic maritime hub's daily logistics, multi-cargo handling capabilities, automated container operations and upcoming expansion and digitisation projects aimed at strengthening regional and international trade.

The delegation toured the port's berths, container yard, signalling station and Premium Cruise Passenger Terminal.

Later in the evening, the visiting journalists attended a special event at Doordarshan Kendra, Chennai, commemorating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years of public service to the nation.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan attended the event as the chief guest.

Welcoming the Srinagar delegation to Tamil Nadu, Murugan emphasised the role of media in bridging regional narratives with the national development story.

He urged the journalists to highlight before the people of Jammu and Kashmir the infrastructure development, economic empowerment and other developmental initiatives taking place across the country.

Murugan described the media team's visit as an example of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), noting that Jammu and Kashmir and Tamil Nadu are paired states under the initiative.

The five-day exposure tour will conclude on Friday with further interactive sessions, following which the delegation will depart for Srinagar.
