Kadfeen for holistic proposal of providing facilities to stranded passengers on national highway

Says innocent people cannot be left unattended amid the present worrisome situation

Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNS): Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Monday pitched for an adoption of a holistic proposal of providing the lodging and other facilities en-route the national highway especially to the passengers who get stranded due to the closure of the national highway especially during the winter season.
In a statement issued to KNS, Kadfeen said that the closure of the national highway has been every year becoming a cause of insurmountable predicament for the people of Kashmir every year during winters and that it was ironic to find the government so far has failed to come out with a durable solution to the crises.
He added that it has now become a norm that during winters landslides block the 270-km highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir valley and throws Kashmir’s economy out of the gear.  According to him, it is high time for the government to stop doing a mere fire fighting job and come out with a long lasting solution to the problem so that people aren’t made to suffer sans any fault.
The Congress leader also stressed that all stranded passengers should be provided meals besides night shelter at designated places.
“Furthermore, the government must direct the executing agencies to activate adequate men and machinery to remove landslides instantly from national highway to restore road connectivity and traffic breakdown besides ensuring traffic worthy road. Besides that, heating arrangements, eatables, sanitation in all shelter sheds besides other necessary facilities for stranded passengers should be kept available on priority,” Kadfeen said in a statement.
