KUTA condemns closure of schools, sealing of homes, fiddling with state subject laws

Srinagar, Mar 02 (KNS): Kashmir University Teachers Association (KUTA) has expressed serious concerns over the imminent closure of hundreds of schools being run by Jamat-e-Islami following government ban thus jeopardizing the educational career and future prospects of thousands of students enrolled in these institutions besides rendering thousands of teachers working in these schools as jobless.
Impressing upon the state and central governments to reconsider and revoke the ban imposed upon this international socio-religious organization that has nothing to do with insurgency in the state, a spokesman of the Association has termed the ban imposed by the government and the sealing of even residential houses of its workers as unjustified and harsh step aimed at harassing and intimidating Kashmiri muslims in particular.
KUTA has also condemned the undue harassment of a senior scientist of SKAUST-K namely Naseem Geelani just because he is the son of a separatist leader and has called for an immediate end to frequent raids and confiscation of his personal belongings. KUTA has fully endorsed the press statement issued by SKAUST-K Teachers Association in this regard.
Expressing serious apprehensions about any sinister designs aimed at abrogation of the state subject laws KUTA spokesperson has cautioned the state and central governments of possible public unrest and widespread agitation in the valley if any covert or overt attempts aimed at tinkering with Article-35A or Article 370 are made by the govt. since these constitutional guarantees are intricately connected to the identity, culture, demographics and ethnicity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
KUTA has once again called upon the government to initiate a meaningful political process and dialogue with all stakeholders leading towards a long-lasting and peaceful resolution of the vexed Kashmir conundrum in accordance with genuine wishes and legitimate aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and that step alone can take the state out of the current morass of unrest and violence. Further it needs to be reiterated that no amount  of ruthless use of force, war-mongering and militarization can help achieve that goal.
Kashmir University Teachers Association has also condemned any fiddling with the constitution and state laws of J&K under the garb of President's Rule in an undemocratic and unconstitutional manner. (KNS)
