KPHEJEA calls off strike, holds meet with CE, others

Srinagar, Apr 08 (KNS): Kashmir Public Health Engineering Joint Employees Association (KPHEJEA), an amalgamation of casual labourers, daily wagers, land donors and ITI workers on Monday called off their strike to demand release in wages.

KPHEJEA president, Sajad Ahmad Parray told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that they held a meeting with Chief Engineer and other officers where the demands of protesting employees were considered.

“50 percent budget was released by the authorities to release the half pending salaries of casual labourers while as the rest of the amount will be released in next week,” Parray said.

He also said that the others demands including moving of files from administrative office and others to Chief Engineers office or civil Secretariat will also be done within one month as promised by the authorities in a meeting today.

Parray said that a cell comprising the department and civil secretariat employees will look into the issues of casual labourers and others on regular basis.

He also said that the demand of regulating the land donors will also be looked into while as the demand regarding employees who died during duties be entitled like SRO so that the families won’t suffer will also be looked into as a committee will be formed in this regard soon.

The association later appealed the workers to join their duties again from Tuesday as it has called off the strike that began on April 01, 12019 to mark a protest against delay in wages and other issues pertaining to employees. (KNS)
