Srinagar, Aug 12 (KNS): Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) protested on Saturday against proposed abrogation of special status (Article 35-A) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Holding placards and shouting slogans, the businessmen and traders assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave to lodge their protest after holding a sit-in at Press colony Srinagar, the traders led by KEA chairman Mohammed Yousef chapri began to march towards Ghanta Ghar for sit in.
Earlier, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) Co-chairman addressed media near clock tower Lalchowk during sit in and expressed serious concerns. Farooq Ahmad Dar said “abrogation of special status (Article 35-A) is direct attack on autonomy of the Jammu and Kashmir”.
He blamed that “PDP-BJP government is implementing agenda of the RSS as they are hell bent to do away with Article 370 which gives JK special status in the country.”
“The wound inflicted on the state’s autonomy through extension of GST is still fresh as another new machination has been launched to question the validity of Article 35-A now, he said. (KNS)
