Justice for NHM Workers Cannot Wait: Zuhaib Yousuf Mir

Ready

Srinagar, Sept 16 (KNS) : PDP spokesperson and Constituency Incharge Lal Chowk, Zuhaib Yousuf Mir, has called for an immediate and time-bound resolution of the long-pending demands of National Health Mission (NHM) employees in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued, Mir said“The struggle of NHM employees is not merely about salaries; it is about dignity, job security, recognition and a secure future. These workers have served patients across hospitals, health centres and remote areas, often becoming a crucial link in our public healthcare system,”.

NHM employees have been seeking regularisation, pay parity, job security and social-security benefits, including EPF, ESI, insurance and retirement benefits. Their agitation, which began earlier this month, has continued with employees demanding a concrete and time-bound roadmap.

Mir said that years of dedicated service cannot be met with continued uncertainty.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Equal work deserves fair remuneration, and contractual status cannot become a justification for denying workers basic dignity and social security,” he said.

He urged both the J&K and Union governments to engage meaningfully with NHM employees and establish a transparent mechanism to address their grievances. The Union Government told Parliament in March that matters concerning regularisation, absorption and pay parity of NHM personnel fall within the jurisdiction of the respective State/UT governments.

“The National Conference government must listen to these workers instead of allowing the issue to drag on. Healthcare workers cannot be treated as expendable. Their service sustains our public-health system, particularly at the grassroots level. Their grievances must be heard and addressed through a transparent, fair and time-bound process,” Mir said.(KNS)
