KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 13 (KNS): Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice Sanjeev Kumar, today undertook a detailed tour of District Kupwara during which he inaugurated the National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Kupwara, interacted with Legal Aid Defense Counsels (LADCs) and Penal Lawyers, and inspected District Jail Kupwara. He was accompanied by Member Secretary, JKLSA, Shazia Tabassum, andMuzamil Ahmad, Under Secretary, J&K LSA.
On his arrival at the District Court Complex Kupwara, Justice Sanjeev Kumar was accorded a guard of honour by J&K Police. Among those present were Additional District & Sessions Judge NIA Court Kupwara, Iqbal Ahmad Masoodi; SSP Kupwara, Ghulam Jeelani; ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ACR Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad; Sub Judge Trehgam, Zahoor Ahmad; Tehsildar Kupwara, Niyaz Ahmad Bhat, besides officers from the judiciary, civil administration, and members of the Bar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Justice Sanjeev Kumar inaugurated the National Lok Adalat in the presence of judicial and civil officers and inspected the proceedings being conducted by various benches at the District Court Complex.
At the ADR Centre of the Court Complex, Justice Sanjeev Kumar convened an interaction with LADCs and Penal Lawyers. He sought feedback regarding the progress of cases handled by them and urged them to work with greater dedication and enthusiasm to ensure timely hearings and speedy settlement of cases, thereby minimizing pendency.
Later in the day, Justice Sanjeev Kumar visited District Jail Kupwara, where he inspected all barracks and interacted with inmates to assess the status of their cases. He also reviewed the facilities being provided in the jail, including food and healthcare arrangements, and obtained feedback directly from the inmates.(KNS)
