Srinagar, Sep 09 (KNS): Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati was on Wednesday administered the oath of office as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Shalimar auditorium of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) here.

LG Saxena, who is performing the duties of the J&K Lieutenant Governor during the leave of Manoj Sinha, administered the oath to Justice Bhati in the presence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, and Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.

Several cabinet ministers, judges of the High Court, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat were also present on the occasion.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The Registrar General of the High Court read out the warrant of appointment issued by the President of India before the oath-taking. Both the LG and the new Chief Justice signed the oath roll papers following the ceremony.

The event began and concluded with the rendition of the national song and the national anthem.

Justice Bhati's appointment comes at a time when the High Court is handling several key matters pertaining to the Union Territory and Ladakh. (KNS)
