Srinagar, Aug 9 (KNS): Jammu & Kashmir has emerged as one of the leading Union Territories in the rollout of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), with 3,142 centres now functional across rural, urban, and tribal belts, according to fresh government data presented in the Lok Sabha.
The figures, current as of July 15, 2025, underline the UT’s rapid expansion of primary healthcare infrastructure under the Ayushman Bharat initiative. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported that J&K’s AAM network has contributed to a nationwide jump in footfall from 13.49 crore visits in 2019-20 to over 128 crore in 2024-25 alongside a sharp increase in screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
In J&K, the centres are providing comprehensive services ranging from reproductive and child health to NCD management, palliative care, mental health support, oral health, ENT care, and basic emergency treatment.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe UT’s AAMs are equipped with 172 essential drugs and 63 diagnostics at the primary health centre level, and 106 drugs with 14 diagnostics at sub-health centres.
The government said that teleconsultation facilities are now available at all AAMs in J&K, enabling patients to connect with specialists without travelling long distances. This is part of a nationwide figure of over 38.13 crore teleconsultations till mid-July 2025. Wellness activities, including yoga and meditation, have also been integrated, with more than 5.79 crore such sessions conducted nationally.
For the financial year 2024-25, Jammu & Kashmir received Rs 3,218.48 lakh under the State Programme Implementation Plan for AAMs building on allocations of Rs 3,070.74 lakh in 2023-24 and Rs 3,657.24 lakh in 2022-23.(KNS)
