Mumbai, Oct 8 (KNS) : A delegation of journalists from Jammu and Kashmir, currently on a media outreach tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), today visited the iconic Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, popularly known as Film City Mumbai , the vibrant nerve centre of India’s film and entertainment industry.
The visit offered the J&K media representatives a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse of Bollywood’s creative world , from bustling studio sets and post-production facilities to outdoor shooting sites where some of the industry’s most celebrated films were made.
The PIB-led media delegation, guided by Director PIB Jammu, Ms. Neha Jalali, began the third day of their exposure tour with a visit to the studio set of the popular family serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The team then toured several famous apartment sets where legendary Bollywood movies such as Baghban, Bodyguard, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were filmed.
An Assistant PRO from Film City briefed the delegation about the functioning of the complex, revealing that major television productions such as Bigg Boss, The Kapil Sharma Show, and Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) are all filmed within its premises. He added that the entire facility operates under the supervision of the Director of Film City.
Following the Film City tour, the delegation visited the Subhash Ghai Institute of Film and Communication, where they were introduced to advanced studios and editing rooms equipped with cutting-edge technology.
Mr. Bhushan, in charge of the institute, informed the media team that a majority of films today are created using virtual technology, significantly reducing outdoor shooting time and enabling a more seamless production process.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“We mix virtual with real visuals — making scenes appear authentic while saving both time and cost,” he said.
During the visit, the delegation also interacted with Hamza Nazki, a promising student from Kashmir and the grandson of former Doordarshan Director Farooq Nazki. He is currently pursuing studies in the media and communication stream.
Officials told the delegation that the institute has an intake capacity of around 500 students, with 12 to 15 students from Jammu and Kashmir enrolling each year. Many of its alumni are now part of India’s leading film and animation projects.
The PIB Mumbai coordinated the entire visit, ensuring the delegation witnessed multiple locations within the sprawling 520-acre Film City premises — a space that continues to define India’s cinematic excellence.
Journalists noted that their on-ground experience was vastly different from what is portrayed on screen. “What we see in cinema and television is an artistic illusion — the ground reality is completely different and truly fascinating,” one of the participants remarked.
An Assistant PRO from the Maharashtra Film, Stage & Cultural Development Corporation (MFSCDC), in coordination with PIB Mumbai, guided the media team throughout the tour.
This visit, part of the week-long PIB Media Outreach Programme, continues to serve as a cultural bridge between Jammu & Kashmir and India’s entertainment capital, promoting greater understanding and professional exchange between regional and national media ecosystems.(KNS)
