Srinagar Sep 04 (KNS): The J&K Hoteliers Club has welcomed the GST Council’s recent decision to slash tax rates on handicrafts, hotel rooms, and essential items, terming it a “landmark relief” for Kashmir’s economy.
Club Chairman Mushtaq Chaya said the move was the result of consistent efforts and representations made to Union ministers. He emphasized that the GST reduction on handicrafts would directly benefit thousands of artisans and craftsmen, making Kashmiri products more competitive in national and global markets while safeguarding cultural heritage.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Club also hailed the cut in GST on hotel rooms priced up to ?7,500, from 12% with ITC to 5% without ITC, effective September 22, calling it a boost for budget and mid-segment tourism.
Welcoming the simplification of GST slabs and rate cuts on common household items, the Hoteliers Club expressed confidence that the measures would ease consumer burden, spur demand, and strengthen J&K’s economy.(KNS)
