Srinagar, Dec 16 (KNS) : The J&K Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian has strongly condemned the reported incident involving the Chief Minister of Bihar, wherein a woman doctor’s hijab was allegedly pulled down on a public platform, terming the act shameful and unacceptable.
In a statement issued here, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal Muslimeen Aga Syed Hassan Almosvi Alsafvi, President of the J&K Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, said the incident was not a mere lapse of conduct but reflected arrogance, insensitivity, and a blatant disregard for religious freedom and the dignity of women.
He said the hijab is a sacred emblem rooted in faith, honour, and moral identity, sanctified by Bibi Fatima (s.a.), the eternal symbol of chastity and dignity. Any act disrespecting it, he said, amounts to an insult to the religious beliefs of millions.
Aga Syed Hassan termed the conduct particularly disturbing as it involved a person holding constitutional authority, warning that such actions send a dangerous message that power can override belief and dignity in a democratic and plural society.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Anjuman demanded an unconditional and public apology from the Chief Minister, stressing that mere words would not suffice and that fixed accountability was necessary to prevent the normalization of such acts.
Reiterating that respect for religious symbols and women’s dignity is a constitutional, moral, and human obligation, the Anjuman warned that any deviation from this principle would face firm resistance.
The statement also urged civil institutions and constitutional bodies to take serious cognizance of the incident and reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding religious freedom, personal dignity, and mutual respect.
