Srinagar, Sep 10 (KNS): The Jal Shakti Department of Jammu and Kashmir has finalised its Comprehensive Implementation and Reform Plan (CIRP) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0, aimed at strengthening rural drinking water infrastructure and service delivery in the Union Territory.

The plan provides a time-bound operational framework for implementation of JJM 2.0, covering scheme-wise completion timelines, financial allocations, reform commitments and governance milestones, officials said.

The CIRP focuses on timely completion of ongoing water supply schemes, improved service delivery, operation and maintenance, source sustainability, water quality and institutional reforms.

Under the plan, all new schemes will be completed within the timelines prescribed by the National Jal Jeevan Mission, while retrofitting schemes will be completed using Union Territory resources.

Officials said the approach would help optimise existing infrastructure and improve the functionality and service delivery of rural water supply schemes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

To facilitate implementation, funds amounting to Rs 128 crore, including Rs 116 crore as the Central share and Rs 12 crore as the UT share, have been released to Public Health Engineering (PHE) divisions across Jammu and Kashmir.

The process for releasing payments against eligible works has also been initiated by the concerned divisions, officials said.

The department said the CIRP seeks to shift the focus beyond creation of water supply infrastructure towards ensuring assured, sustainable, reliable and quality drinking water services, while strengthening accountability and efficient utilisation of resources.

The Jal Shakti Department will work in coordination with the National Jal Jeevan Mission, field formations, Panchayati Raj Institutions and other stakeholders to achieve the objectives of JJM 2.0.

The reform plan has also been made available on the JJM-2.0 Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) dashboard for access by stakeholders.(KNS)
