Srinagar, Aug 19 (KNS) : JKPC Youth President Mudasir Karim has expressed deep shock and anger over a recent media report exposing the operation of a “meat mafia” in Kashmir that allegedly feeds people with rotten, diseased and chemically treated meat.
In a statement issued, Karim Calling the revelations “shocking and life-threatening,” Karim said this is not just about one racket but a dangerous reminder of what could be happening across other essential food supplies. “If meat can be this badly adulterated, what do we really know about the milk, vegetables, pulses, oils, and other things our families consume every single day? Are we sitting quietly and waiting for our generations to be slowly killed?” he questioned.
Karim said this is not a minor case of malpractice but a serious public health emergency that needs urgent action. “Why are we quiet on this? It is a collective responsibility to stand up and put an end to this menace.”
He urged the administration to take strictest action by identifying the culprits across the chain, from suppliers, transporters, storers to restaurants and retail sellers and book them under the harshest laws. He also called out the silence and negligence of regulatory agencies, saying officers who have been “sitting in offices while such poison is being fed to people” should also be held accountable.
“This is a wake-up call. We as a society must rise above silence, come together, create awareness, and demand accountability. Identifying these culprits is not enough, we must ensure they are made examples of so that no one dares to play with the health and lives of Kashmiris again,” Karim said.(KNS)
