Dir Sports lauds efforts of participating players for brilliant performances

Jammu, Feb 07 (KNS): “Mass participation” and “promotion of excellence in sports” these are the twin objectives of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports behind the first Khelo India School Games (KISG), which began at Delhi on January 31. On the 8th day of the Sports Extravaganza, J&K clinched two silver medals. In under 17 age group category Bavleen Kour in Gymnastics while as Paramveer Singh in Judo won the medals.
The J&K contingent of 22 athletes and six officials, under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) is participating in the 1st Kehlo India School Nationals.
J&K is taking part in Khelo India sports competitions in five different disciplines of Judo, Gymnastics, Shooting, Swimming and Weightlifting. While in Judo five boys and four girls are participating. In Gymnastics four girls and Shooting one girl are taking part.
Similarly, in swimming one boy and four girls while as in weightlifting three players been selected for participation.
Director Youth Services and Sports Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad has lauded the efforts of participating players for the brilliant performances and have conveyed his happiness to the officials who are escorting the contingent. He hoped that the contingent will do really good in other disciplines too. (KNS)
