JK Police, other forces made enormous sacrifices for peace, tranquility: Advisor Kumar

Srinagar, Jun 17 (KNS): Reacting to the killing of a Station House Officer (SHO) Saddar Police Station Anantnag, Arshid Khan, Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar Monday said that over 1000 policemen including SPOs of Jammu and Kashmir Police have laid their lives for the peace and tranquility in the State.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, talking to the reporters on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of slain police officer, Kumar said Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces have made enormous sacrifices, adding that “this attrition will steel our resolve.”

“More than 1600 Special Police Officers (SPO) and policemen of JK Police alone have laid down their lives on the side of peace and tranquility and for the peace and tranquilly,” Advisor Kumar said, adding that “we will be at it with all our resolve.”

Earlier, the wreath laying ceremony of slain SHO Anantnag Arshid Khan was held at District Police Line (DPL) Srinagar. Khan was injured in Anantnag attack while as five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were killed. A civilian was also injured in the attack on June 12.

The attack was carried out by militants near a private institute in KP road in Anantnag district.

Many senior police officials paid their homage to the slain police officer. Besides Advisor Kumar, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Munir Khan, Deputy Inspector General and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar and others were present in the wreath laying ceremony.

The officers also paid floral tributes to the slain officer.

Emotional scenes were also witnessed during the wreath laying ceremony s many officers including SSP Srinagar Haseeb Mughal and other officers besides the family members of slain were seen crying while paying floral tributes to the slain officer. (KNS)
