Srinagar, September 8 (KNS): The second UT-level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on narcotics control for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was held at Police Control Room, Srinagar, to review measures for combating drug trafficking and strengthen coordination among enforcement agencies.

The meeting was chaired by DDG (NWR), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and IG Crime/ANTF, J&K Police.

Senior officers from various enforcement and stakeholder agencies, including ED, BSF, State Drug Controller, IB, Customs, DRI, Income Tax and NIA, besides District SSPs of Jammu, Srinagar and Ganderbal, participated in the meeting.

The participating agencies shared their experiences and enforcement initiatives and discussed emerging trends in drug trafficking, inter-state linkages, illicit cultivation, information sharing, joint investigations, financial investigations and effective prosecution.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The meeting also discussed implementation of the ‘Vision Document on Drug Control (2026-2029)’ unveiled by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah during the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on June 26, 2026.

Officials stressed the need for a network-centric approach to combat the drug menace and called for strengthened inter-agency coordination, joint interrogation, effective financial investigations and greater use of available information-sharing mechanisms.

The meeting concluded with a call for sustained cooperation among stakeholder agencies and adoption of a whole-of-government approach to detect, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.(KNS)
