Srinagar, Sep 24 (KNS): In connection with the ongoing Poshan Maah celebrations, the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) District Srinagar today organized an awareness programme titled ‘Sewa Parv’ at Miskeen Bagh.
In a Press release Issued ,The event was graced by Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sarmad Hafeez (IAS), Mission Director ICDS, Dr. Musheer Ahmad (JKAS), and District Programme Officer ICDS Srinagar, Mrs. Bureeda Majeed.
The programme aimed to sensitize the local community about key themes of Poshan Maah including mainstreaming men in nutrition, addressing obesity, promoting breastfeeding, discouraging junk food, and encouraging healthy eating habits, particularly among adolescents.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sarmad Hafeez, urged Anganwadi workers to materialize government schemes on the ground and called upon beneficiaries, especially mothers, to avail various welfare initiatives. “The objective of such programmes is to create awareness about government schemes and ensure they reach the grassroots level,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Mission Director ICDS, Dr. Musheer Ahmad, reiterated the department’s commitment to reaching every village with vital information about ICDS schemes. He highlighted the significance of community participation in achieving the goals of Poshan Abhiyaan, the Government of India’s flagship mission to improve nutritional outcomes across the country. Referring to schemes like PMMVY and Ladli Beti, he stressed on removing pendency, if any, to ensure timely delivery of services to beneficiaries.
Speakers at the event emphasized the long-term benefits of balanced nutrition, the need to inculcate healthy dietary habits among school-going children, and the role of moral education in shaping a healthier society.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from CDPOs, health professionals, community representatives, Anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors, and beneficiaries of District Srinagar.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by District Programme Officer Srinagar, Bureeda Majeed.(KNS)
