Says his contribution will always be remembered

Srinagar, Aug 09 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (M) paid tributes to former executive member and senior Hurriyat leader Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz, martyred in 2008, stating that the slain leader stood like a rock on his convictions and all his life fought for the people’s movement for right to self determination.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) said that Sheikh Abdul Aziz will always be remembered for that and his contribution towards the ongoing freedom struggle.
“Under the banner of APHC, he worked tirelessly shoulder to shoulder with other resistance leaders,” the statement added.
Hurriyat said that “the mission of Sheikh Aziz and all other martyrs of Kashmir who have the supreme sacrifice of life is etched in our consciousness and will never be compromised upon.”
Paying tributes to the five militants killed in an encounter at north Kashmir’s Rafiabad area of Baramulla district, Hurriyat (M) stated that the nation is indebted to the youth for offering the great sacrifice of their life to free people of Kashmir from the clutches of slavery and oppression and they will always be remembered for it.
Hurriyat (M) strongly condemned the nocturnal raids and arrests on the family members of armed youth in various areas of Tral in Pulwama district that include Pinglish, Gulshan Pora, Ameerabad, Mongehama, Jawaharpora, Laam, Sheerabad, and many other villages, terming the move as ‘revengeful and petty and ultimate highhandedness’ exhibited by forces and state.
Spokesman said that the relatives including brothers and fathers of armed youth are bundled in police vehicles and lodged in police stations at the will and whim of these agencies as if there is no law in the land.
Hurriyat (M) further said that such revengeful persecution by state unleashed through police and forces and the victimisation of their families leaves no option with the youth other than to resort to pick up arms.
“The authorities are pushing them to it by these oppressive tactics,” it added. (KNS)
