House damaged in cease fire violation in Tangdar

Tangdar,(Kupwara) Dec 16 (KNS): A residential house was completely damaged while several others houses and cowsheds were partially damaged in ceasefire violation from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdar sector of north Kashmir’s frontier on Sunday night.
The firing from both the sides started at around 11:30 pm on Monday and continued till 1 am Tuesday, locals of the area told KNS. They said a panic gripped the border residents as they heard huge blasts.
According to reports a house of Nasser Ahmad Shiekh son of Najibullah Shiekh resident of Upper Nichaya, Tanghdar was completely damaged. However, the family was not present in the house as they had recently shifted to Kupwara for treatment.
Due to intense shelling, residents of Badana Mohalla, Upper Nichiyan and Hundwala rushed to safer places.
The locals have also claimed that a live shell is lying on the ground which has not been defused yet by security forces. “There could be big damage if the shell goes off accidently,” they said.
Station House Officer (SHO) Tangdar confirmed the ceasefire violation and said the live shell will be defused soon.
A defence spokesperson told KNS that Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and restored indiscriminate shelling and firing in Tangdar. He, however, said no one was hurt in ceasefire violation. (KNS)
