Heavy snowing in Kashmir disrupts normal life

Srinagar, Jan 04 (KNS): Heavy snowing started in the afternoon in both plain and hilly areas of Kashmir valley including summer capital Srinagar.
Reports said snowing started immediately after 2pm when the people were coming out of the mosques after offering congregational Friday prayers. Within half an hour almost the surface was covered by a white blanket of snow and commuters were finding it difficult to move around in different parts of Srinagar city.
As already reported Divisional Commissioner Kashmir had issued an avalanche warning in the hilly areas of Kashmir valley besides sounding an alert for preparedness to meet any eventuality in the wake of a snowfall. The meteorological department had forecasted rain and snow from Friday evening but it started much before the evening in the afternoon. (KNS)
