Heavy rains, windstorm wreak havoc in parts of north Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 21 (KNS): A windstorm followed by heavy rains on Sunday uprooted trees, caused extensive damage to residential houses and orchards in many villages of north Kashmir’s Rajwar Handwara.

Reports said that several houses, apple orchards and electric poles were damaged and a number of trees were uprooted as incessant rains with windstorm lashed Rajwar villages.

Following the windstorm, power supply in area has also been snapped due to the breaking of poles and cables.

They said that strong winds also caused damage to many residential houses land apple orchards in the area.

They added that in Khaipora village of Rajwar house of Tariq Ahmad and Abdul Khaliq Bhat was also damaged.

However, there was no report of any loss of life or injuries to anybody. (KNS)
