Greater Noida, Sep 25 (KNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida, saying the event would help strengthen the state's position as a global hub for production, design and innovation.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several other dignitaries were present at the inaugural event.

Addressing the gathering, Shah said September 25 marked 12 years since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 'Make in India' mission, and asserted that the Centre and state governments had worked together to make India a global manufacturing hub.

He said Uttar Pradesh was emerging as an investment hub and set a target of turning the state's economy into a USD 1 trillion economy. Shah said the 2025 edition of the trade fair witnessed more than five lakh visitors and over 2,400 MoUs, expressing confidence that the 2026 edition would surpass those records.

Shah attributed the improved investment climate in Uttar Pradesh to better law and order, industrial policies, government facilitation and political stability. He also highlighted infrastructure projects, the Defence Corridor and the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative as key drivers of the state's economic growth.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

On the national economy, Shah said India's growth rate had remained strong despite global uncertainties. He cited a 7.8 per cent growth rate in the last quarter and said India was currently the fastest-growing among major economies.

He also highlighted growth in electronic exports, GST collections, semiconductor investments and capital expenditure, saying these reflected the foundations of India's economic development.

Shah said Uttar Pradesh's Defence Corridor had attracted investment across six nodes — Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh and Kanpur and noted the state's contribution to India's defence manufacturing and exports.

He further said the ODOP initiative had helped promote traditional products such as Bhadohi carpets, Moradabad brassware, Firozabad glass, Saharanpur woodcraft, Kannauj perfume and Banarasi silk.

The Union minister also launched the website of 'One District, One Cuisine', aimed at promoting regional food products including Varanasi's Malaiyo and Tiranga Barfi, Agra's Petha, Mathura's Peda and Meerut's Gajak across the country.(KNS)
