‘Orchardists worst affected, to be mitigated on priority’

Srinagar, Nov 27 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday stated that the assessment of losses incurred by the orchardists due to the recent early snowfall in Kashmir is actively being done and figures of the same will be revealed within a day or two.

Kashmir’s Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan told KNS that the government in entire Kashmir valley has been making the assessment of the losses incurred by the recent untimely snowfall that wrecked havoc on orchards leaving the farmers associated with the business perturbed at large.

According to Khan, the assessment process is in a final stage and within a period of two days the details will be made public.

On the other hand, the people hailing from various parts of Kashmir are accusing the government of turning blind eye towards their plight and not visiting the affected hamlets where the snowfall caused wide scale damage to the crops.

However, Div Com Kashmir rejected the reports about government acting non- seriously in the process of mitigating the losses of Kashmir’s farming community. He said that the report is thoroughly being prepared with emphasis laid upon covering the areas where damage is massive and the victims are in dire straits. (KNS)
