Govt Issues SOPs to Ensure School Safety Amid Bad Weather

Srinagar, Aug 18 (KNS): In view of recent cloudburst incidents, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued fresh guidelines to ensure the safety of students and staff during extreme weather conditions.

In an official advisory, all Chief Education Officers and school heads have been directed to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to deal with heavy rainfall, flash floods, and cloudbursts.

Key safety steps include:

Heightened Vigilance: Schools in disaster-prone areas must stay alert, and staff must be trained in handling emergencies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Precautionary Measures: Schools near rivers, lakes, and streams are to remain on high alert. Heads of Institutions (HOIs) must monitor water levels and weather forecasts, prepare evacuation plans, and stay in close contact with local authorities.

Staff Accountability: Any failure to follow the SOPs will be taken seriously, and the responsibility for lapses will lie with the concerned HOI.

The DSEK has stressed that these SOPs must be followed in "letter and spirit" to protect lives and school infrastructure. (KNS)
