After outcry from family members, authorities mulling to shift detained leaders to Jammu

Srinagar, Nov 20 (KNS): Scores of family members of the detained political leaders in Srinagar on Wednesday held protest demonstrations against what they termed the ill treatment being meted out to the incarcerated leadership of Kashmir.
According to the KNS Correspondent, family members of various political leaders in Srinagar protested against the government action of shifting the detained leadership to MLA Hostel Srinagar from Centaur hotel. Terming the measure a political vendetta, the family members accused the government of denying the detainees basic facilities.
However, contesting the claims of the family members of the incarcerated leaders, a senior officer of the Jammu and Kashmir administration told KNS that all the requisite facilities have been put in place for the detainees including uninterrupted power supplies and heating arrangements. Trashing the allegations being levelled by the families of the leaders, the Officer said that it has been ensured that the detainees face no difficulty during their period of detention.
Meanwhile, as per the sources, with outcry mounting about the ill treatment being given to the detained political leadership, the government is mulling to shift them to Jammu where the climate remains relatively warm during the harsh winter period. Also, said the sources, shifting the detainees to Jammu will put lid over the growing public outcry about the lack of facilities in Srinagar’s MLA hostel.
According to highly placed sources, the option to shift the detained leaders to Jammu is seriously being considered and final decision by the end of this week is most likely to be taken. (KNS)
