Government directs RTO’s, ARTO’s to take measures amid COVID-19 scare


Srinagar, Mar 16 (KNS): Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday passed directions to all RTO’s and ARTO’s of Motor Vehicles Department towards mitigating the transmission of COVID-19 in the Union Territory of J&K.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the order signed by Pardeep Kumar (KAS), Transport Commissioner J&K said, “All RTO’s/ARTO’s of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir shall ensure that all the public transport operating in their territorial jurisdictions shall be sanitized with the prescribed disinfectants at the regular intervals as prescribed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. They shall also ensure necessary briefings and sensitizations of drivers/cleaners through their staff. Moreover, the Presidents of Bus Stands/Sumo Stands/Auto Stands shall also be involved for awareness of their staff, drivers and cleaners”.
Order further reads, “All RTO’s/ARTO’s shall ensure that no trial test/learning test of the driving licenses shall be conducted till 31st of March 2020”.
“All RTO’s/ARTO’s shall notify a Help Line No./WhatsApp No. for general public to address urgent issues of public importance regarding transport”.
Meanwhile authorities earlier in the day closed all parks and gardens in District Srinagar as a precautionary measure to deal with Corona Virus scare. (KNS)
