Srinagar August 06:  (KNS) The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Senior Leader and Former MLC Sheikh Ghulam Qadir Pardesi on Saturday impressed upon the government to allow Muharram procession from Guru Bazar ( Zaindar Mohalla) to Dalgate on 8th Muharram and Youm-e-Ashoora.

Even the High Court of J&K and Ladakh on Wednesday left it for the government to decide on the Muharram procession from Guru Bazaar to Dalgate , saying that it was the domain of the administration, security agencies, and other stakeholders to take a call on it. I hope the administration will take a compassionate on the matter and allow our Shia brethren to take out the religious processions especially on the 8th of Muharram from Guru Bazaar to Dalgate. " Besides many other things taking out Tazia processions and holding Majlis are the visible and traditional markers of the holy month. It is therefore imperative for the government to facilitate people to observe the rituals with traditional fervor and gaity,"
Pardesi also sought un-interrupted power and adequate drinking water supply, repair of street lights, lanes and drains, cleanliness lanes, installation of ambulances and first aid facilities besides security and smooth traffic arrangements where processions will be taken out.(KNS)
