Srinagar, Aug 17 (KNS): Former Minister and Senior Vice President of J&K People’s Conference, Abdul Gani Vakil, has strongly reacted to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s 15th August announcement regarding a signature campaign for restoration of statehood, calling it a political gimmick aimed at exploiting the emotions of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vakil questioned Omar Abdullah’s double standards by pointing out that he is silent on the restoration of Article 370 and 35-A, despite the fact that the people of J&K gave him a huge mandate with the hope of safeguarding these constitutional guarantees and ensuring good governance. “It is strange that Omar Abdullah talks of statehood but has nothing to say about 370 and 35-A. If he was even remotely sincere about statehood, his conscience should have told him to resign from the chair of Chief Minister. But he will never do it, because National Conference has always been about clinging to power rather than safeguarding the interests of the people,” Vakil said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He added that Omar Abdullah has once again resorted to hollow theatrics instead of delivering on real issues. “The National Conference has mastered the art of drama. Before every election, they launch new slogans and campaigns to mislead people, but once in power, they conveniently forget their promises. Omar Abdullah’s so-called signature campaign is nothing more than an eyewash to cover up his failures as Chief Minister,” Vakil stated.
Vakil urged the people to see through such political gimmicks and hold NC accountable for decades of misrule. “National Conference has always thrived on emotional slogans, but the reality is that they have delivered nothing except betrayal. Omar Abdullah must first explain what his government has achieved so far instead of hiding behind empty promises and campaigns,” he added.(KNS)
