Anantnag, Sep 8 (KNS): MBBS interns at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag on Tuesday condemned the issuance of show-cause notices to two student representatives, Dr Mohammad Akib Javid and Dr Runga Zamin Javaid, in connection with the ongoing protest over stipend demands.

In a statement, the interns said it was concerning that the administration had specifically issued notices to the two representatives who had been communicating the collective grievances of the protesting interns.

They said raising genuine grievances and representing fellow students could not be equated with gross indiscipline or professional misconduct.

The interns said the notice, which reportedly mentions the possibility of curtailment, temporary suspension or cancellation of internship, had created fear among students demanding what they described as their legitimate rights.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“Student representation is not misconduct, and raising legitimate concerns is not an act of indiscipline,” the interns said, urging the administration to engage with the representatives through dialogue instead of punitive measures.

They appealed to the administration and concerned authorities to withdraw the notices and resolve the stipend issue through meaningful dialogue.

The interns said they would continue their demand for justice, dignity and a fair stipend peacefully and democratically, while extending their support to the two representatives.

“Our representatives will not be abandoned. We stand united,” they said.(KNS)
