GH Mir regrets silence of PM Modi over systematic attacks on Kashmiris

Srinagar, Feb 21 (KNS): Jammu Kashmir Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president and former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir Thursday regretted the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the systematic attacks on Kashmiris in various parts of the country.
Mir in a statement issued to KNS said that it is strange that there’s silence of the PM on assault and harassment of Kashmiri students and others outside Kashmir Valley.
“This is against what he had said twice on two consecutive Independence Days in 2017 and 2018 that he would adopt the policy of embracing Kashmiris to resolve the issue,” he said, adding that harassment of Kashmiris violate the spirit of Indian ethos and also the claim that Kashmir is an integral part of India.
“Prime Minister should speak out as that would send a message to the hooligans that Kashmiris are to be protected not harassed. The boycott Kashmiris and their handicrafts by Meghalaya Governor runs against the spirit of Constitution of India. Kashmiris has not envisioned this kind of India and anti- Kashmiri utterances by the men holding constitutional positions. This is unfortunate that no action has been taken against the Meghalaya Governor,” he said.
PM should realize gravity of the situation and put an end to this atmosphere of hate Kashmir in the country, he added. (KNS)
