Budgam, July 29 (KNS): Illuminating minds and celebrating merit, Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Wadwan, on Monday hosted a vibrant and multifaceted event bringing together a confluence of aspirations. The occasion featured a Career Counseling Session, a Felicitation Ceremony for NEET qualifiers, Academic Toppers from Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th, National-level Sports Achievers, and a celebration of the NEP-2020 Mela (Paigam), organized under the directions of the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, vide letter dated 28/07/2025.
The programme was presided over by Farooq Ahmad Koul, Principal, and Ishrat Jahan, Vice Principal, and graced by an esteemed panel of guests. Chief Guest for the event was Syed Humayun Qaiser, Former Director of All India Radio, Srinagar. The Guests of Honour included Abdul Hameed Mir, Former Principal of GHSS Wadwan, and Dr. Ishrat Shakeel, Former Joint Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Kashmir.
Heads of cluster institutions under GHSS Wadwan attended the event along with their student contingents. A notable presence was that of the parents of NEET qualifiers, whose proud expressions reflected the emotional depth of the occasion. The event was emceed with eloquence and poise by Javid Hussain Kirmani.
In his inaugural address, Principal Farooq Ahmad Koul emphasized the transformative vision of the National Education Policy 2020, now completing five years, and reiterated the institution's commitment to realizing its objectives. Guest of Honour Abdul Hameed Mir, in an emotionally charged speech, inspired students to remain committed to their dreams. He compared their academic journeys to the growth of a bamboo tree, which quietly builds a strong foundation before a sudden, spectacular rise—symbolizing silent perseverance before success.
Dr. Ishrat Shakeel, known for his eloquence and rooted in Islamic ethics, delivered motivational insights blending spirituality with contemporary education. His words brought a sense of moral purpose to the gathering.
The felicitation of achievers was gracefully conducted by Dr. Yaseen Dar, Lecturer, while the vote of thanks was delivered with warmth and gratitude by Bashir Senior Lecturer.
Among the special awardees, Mohammad Altaf Mir, Senior Assistant, received the Best Financial Management Award from his former mentor, Abdul Hameed Mir, lending the moment a deeply sentimental touch.Mohammad Ayoub, PEM, was also recognized for his remarkable contributions to sports, where his leadership has been instrumental in the institution’s athletic success.
