Srinagar, Sep 8 (KNS) : Ghulam Ahmad Mir, CLP Leader J&K , has strongly condemned the detention of Mehraj Malik, Member of Legislative Assembly, under the Public Safety Act (PSA), describing it as unjustified, undemocratic, and a blatant misuse of authority.
In a statement issued, Mir said that there is absolutely no justification for detaining Malik under a discredited law like the PSA. “Mehraj Malik does not pose any threat to public safety. Invoking such draconian provisions against an elected representative is a direct assault on democratic values and conveys a disturbing message to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.
He further added that when an unelected administration can silence an elected legislator through arbitrary detention, it undermines the very foundation of democracy.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“How can people be expected to retain faith in democratic institutions when their chosen representatives are treated in such a manner?
