Fresh snowfall shuts Srinagar –Jammu highway

 Srinagar, Jan 28 (KNS):  Srinagar Jammu national highway on Tuesday remained closed for the vehicular traffic after the fresh snowfall in the valley.

 
 Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the road was closed for the traffic after the snow fall, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded on the road at many places.
 
An official of the traffic police told KNS that the road was closed for the traffic movement after fresh snowfall in Banihal and Qazigund sections and occurrence of the landslides in Ramsoo  area.
 
He further said that the men and machinery have been on job to clear the snow and the debris on the road. 
 
The officer further said that no fresh traffic will be allowed till the road will not be cleared properly.
 
The officer had appealed the people no to start their journey from the either side on the highway before knowing the status of the road from nearest traffic control units (TCUs).
 
The highway got blocked several times this year and leaving commuters to suffer.    
 
The closer of the highway has also led the shortage of the essentials in the valley especially the shortage of LPG (Gas) and the prices of the essentials goods has also gone up.
 
However, the metrological department has said that there will be improvement in weather form Wednesday (KNS).
