Anantnag, Jan 07 (KNS): A local militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Charsoo Awantipura in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.
Reports said a joint team of 44RR of army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly launched the carton and search operation in the area following the inputs about the presence of militant in the area.
During the search operation, the contact was established and one local militant was killed in a brief encounter, a police official said.
The slain militant was identified as Shahid Ahmad, a resident of Arwani, Bijbehara Anantnag,
Shahid according to reports had joined the militant ranks four days ago and was killed today, a senior police officer confirmed (KNS)
