Srinagar, Aug 10 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra said the ongoing Congress campaign is aimed at securing the rights of 1.4 crore people of J&K, not just serving party interests.
Karra said the movement, launched six months ago, has seen successful programmes in Srinagar, Jammu and Delhi, with strong support from senior Congress leaders. He accused the Centre of withdrawing J&K’s constitutional guarantees “unilaterally and undemocratically” and failing to honour promises to restore statehood.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
To press the demand, the party launched a chain hunger strike on August 9, coinciding with the Quit India Movement anniversary. The programme began in Srinagar on August 10, after a day’s pause for Raksha Bandhan.
“We will continue until J&K’s dignity and statehood are fully restored,” Karra said.(KNS)
