Srinagar, Oct 9 (KNS): The Food Safety Department Srinagar seized five quintals of Namkeen snacks and sealed an unlicensed manufacturing unit during an inspection drive at Abhanshah, HMT Srinagar.
Reports Reaching to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the inspection team, led by the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar, found the unit operating under unhygienic conditions and without a valid license. The seized stock included various Namkeen items such as katlam and finni.
Samples from the seized products were taken for laboratory analysis. The unit has been sealed and its manufacturing operations prohibited.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelA formal complaint under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006, and Rules and Regulations, 2011, will be filed in court soon.
Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Smitha Sethi, urged all food business operators to comply strictly with the Food Safety and Standards Act. She warned that any violation would invite strict legal action.
