Floods damage Khanabal–Nathpora–Dugpora Road, disrupt power supply

Anantnag, Sept 7 (KNS): A stretch of the Khanabal–Nathpora–Dugpora road in Anantnag district has been badly damaged due to recent floods, leaving residents facing severe difficulties in movement and transport.

Officials said the road was washed away following a rise in the water level of the Jhelum River, cutting off vital connectivity for the local population.

In addition to road damage, several transformers and electric poles were also affected, resulting in disruption of power supply to the area. Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) employees have initiated restoration work to repair the damaged network and restore electricity at the earliest.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Meanwhile, MLA Anantnag West Advocate Abdul Majid Larmi has been visiting different areas to assess the situation. He took stock of the damages to residential houses and infrastructure along the banks of the Jhelum River.

Larmi interacted with residents, sought feedback on their immediate concerns, and assured that necessary steps will be taken to address the damages and provide relief to the affected families.
Authorities said that restoration of road connectivity and electricity supply remains a priority, with teams working on the ground to mitigate hardships faced by the local population.(KNS).
