Anantnag, Mar 23 (KNS): Department of Fisheries district Anantnag organised an Awareness camp under CSS scheme “Blue revolution”. The event was organised to spread awareness about the need of “Conservation of Reverie fisheries/ranching of fish” on the banks of Trout Stream, Verinag.
People from different sections of society viz ,trade union, Auqaf committee, NGO (Greater Verinag), and local citizens, school going students attended the awareness programme.
Apart from that several officers from the administration, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dooru/Verinag, Tehsildar Dooru Shah Abad Bala, Executive officer Municipality, Assistant Executive Engineer Verinag Development Authority and Floriculture Officer graced the occasion with their presence.
On this occasion, departmental officers highlighted the importance of need of conservation of water resources for the sustainability of fish fauna. People of various sections were made aware regarding their legitimate duties, which they are supposed to perform for the safety of various water resources of their locality.
All the participants took a pledge that they will save these water bodies and would not make them polluted. Department took various conservative measures like dry boulder bundh construction, cleaning/removal of polythene bags/bottles, installation of dust bins etc. The Department also stocked quality fish seed of Brown Trout in presence of all the participants.
Participants in the programme thanked the department for organizing such programmes and hoped that such programmes will be organized in future too. (KNS)
