Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha & Former Chief Minister of J&K has expressed deep condolences on the passing away of Zahid Anmad Bhat, who was under treatment in Safderjung Hospital New Delhi after receiving burn injuries in a ghastly attack at Udhampur.
Zahid was attacked by miscreants in Udhampur a few days ago.
Azad said: “I stand in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and pray to Almighty to give them courage to withstand this tragic loss”.
He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Calling upon the State Government to take urgent and effective steps to prevent such events in future, Azad said such painful incidents rip apart the social fabric and create fissures which are difficult to bridge.
He further said that such heart rending acts of mob violence widen the gulf between the various sections of the society and leave lasting scars of affliction and anguish.
While acknowledging that such occasions are not to score political brownie points, Azad said that such painful events do remind us to introspect and analyse as to how long the philosophy of hate and intolerance has to be used to make political capital.
“Time has come to put an end to politics of hate and intolerance in order to regain the place of glory for our state - which has been abode of peace and tolerance for centuries”, said Azad.
Earlier Ghulam Nabi Azad visited Safdarjung Hospital to enquire about the health of both the victims of Udhampur mob violence. (KNS)
