Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervor today

Srinagar, Jun 05 (KNS): Eid-ul-Fitr was on Wednesday celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the Sub continent including Kashmir.

The largest Eid gathering was held at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar where Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressed the gathering.

Besides, thousands of Muslims thronged various Eidgahs, shrines and Masjids this morning to offer Eid Namaz which was followed by exchanging the Eid greetings and pleasantries.

The people, accompanied by their children, offered Eid Namaz and exchanged Eid greetings.

The religious places were decorated and people thronged in large numbers to offer special prayers since early morning.

On the occasion, Imams prayed for peace and harmony in the state.

Elaborate arrangements were made by the divisional administration for smooth celebrations of Eid festival across the district.

Similar reports were also received from Jammu and other parts of the State.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted between youth and forces at several places post Eid prayers in which scores of youth sustained injuries.

Clashes broke out in Sopore and Kupwara this morning that continued till afternoon during which forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the agitating youth. (KNS)
