Srinagar, Feb 20 (KNS): To develop interest and to garner the literary abilities among the students and with the help of the literary persons of the State a platform for the students will be provided by the Department which shall help in harnessing the literary abilities of the students. This will also give a platform to the writers and poets of the State to bring forward their work and student community will be benefitted by this. These views were expressed by Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmad Shah in a book release function of “Kayinat Kulhum Halmas Manz” which has been authored by one of the teachers of the department namely Zahid Farooqi.
He said that we have a very rich literature in Kashmiri language and our writers have penned down a lot of books and poems like KralleKoor, PahalKoor, GreesKoor, etc. which reflect our culture and heritage. But today it is an irony that we feel dejected while talking to our children in Kashmiri at home. Seeking full support from the literary persons, Secretary Education said that till the point we don’t show our love and respect for our mother tongue, we cannot progress in our lives.
Secretary Education assured full support to all the writers and poets of the State for their literary activities. Talking about the New Auditorium with latest facilities being developed at SIE Kashmir, he said that it will be available for the book releases or any other literary activity.
Appreciating the work of Radio Kashmir, Secretary School Education requested to air programmes regarding education and other allied activities. Replying to Secretary Education, Director Radio Kashmir Syed Humayun Kaiser in his presidential address said that in this regard some programmes are already being telecasted and in near future a programme based on the training of teacher in different subjects shall also be telecasted. He appreciated the work of Director School Education Kashmir and said that the Department is heading towards a right path.
Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo talking about his association with Dooru Shahabad, the native area of the famous poets of the Valley Rasool Mir and Mehmood Gaami, he said that they have given a lot to our culture and heritage. During his address, former ADG Doordarshan, Dr.Rafiq Masoodi proposed the introduction of “Intra-Department Book Award” to encourage the literary work and efforts of the students and teachers of the Department. In reply Director School Education Kashmir stating the acceptance of the proposal by Secretary School Education said that the proposal of Dr.Masoodi shall be shortly rolled out in the Department. He added that to develop interest in literary activities among students and teachers, the Department will soon start poetry competition and some similar activities.
The function was jointly organized by Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Department of Information and Radio Kashmir in which Head of RNU, Radio Kashmir, Srinagar Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, Deputy Director Information Bureau, Ghulam Abbass, The President of Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Farooq Rafiabadi, the poet of the book Zahid Farooqi and some famous poets and writers of the valley.
