Baramulla, Oct 8 (KNS): Continuing its drive against drug menace, Baramulla Police said it arrested a drug peddler and recovered narcotic substance from his possession in Kunzer area of the district.
A police official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that acting on specific information, a naka was laid at Batapora near Public Park Kunzer. During checking, an Alto K-10 vehicle (registration number JK05N-9956) was seen approaching the checkpoint in a suspicious manner.
“On noticing the police party, the driver attempted to flee from the spot but was swiftly intercepted by the alert personnel,” the official said.
He identified the accused as Gulzar Ahmed Kuthoo, son of Abdul Majeed Kuthoo, resident of Merchipora Tangmarg.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“During his personal search, around 6 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession,” the official added.
The accused was taken into custody, and the vehicle used in the commission of the offence was seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 113/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kunzer, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from the district and appealed to the general public to share information regarding drug peddling or other anti-social activities for strict action as per law.KNS
