RADMS shall be established shortly, says Transport Commissioner

Srinagar, Jul 20 (KNS): Principal Secretary Transport department, Dr Asgar Samoon on Friday announced the implementation of a slew of measures to ensure road safety in both Urban and Rural areas of both Kashmir and Jammu division of the State.
Chairing a high level meeting at Civil Secretariat Srinagar, attended among others by Transport Commissioner Saugat Biswas and Additional Secretary transport, the Principal Secretary Transport directed the concerned to install Global Positioning System (GPS) in SRTC, State Motor Garage department and other departmental vehicles.
In the meeting, Dr Samoon directed the Biswas to install Global Positioning System in SRTC, State Motor Garage department and other departmental vehicles.
Dr Samoon also directed Biswas to convene a video-conferencing with the Deputy commissioner’s (DC) to formulate action plan as per the formats of MoRTH keeping in view of 50 per cent reduction in road accidents and furnish report within 15 days.
The Transport commissioner in his brief said that the Road Accident Data Management System (RADMS) shall be established shortly.
Dr Samoon also directed the traffic police and Motor Vehicles department to strictly implement Motor Vehicles Act in case of traffic violations.
He also directed the Additional Secretary Transport department to move a proposal for creation of Road Safety Fund Rule within week’s period.
The Additional Secretary Transport department in his brief said that proposal for setting up a lead agency is under process. (KNS)
