Asks Govt to allow G.A Mir to visit valley, resume political activities

Srinagar, Mar 15 (KNS): Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Sunday termed the release of Dr Farooq Abdullah a positive measure towards the resumption of political process in Jammu and Kashmir, hoping that the logjam prevalent since August 5, last year will end soon.

In a statement issued to KNS, Kadfeen underscored the need for the resumption of political activities in Kashmir and said that the time has come when good sense should prevail upon those at the helm so that the confrontational attitude is shunned and reconciliatory approach is adopted.

Kadfeen while welcoming the release of Dr Farooq Abdullah, said that such a measure will prove crucial and important for the restoration of political activities in Jammu and Kashmir and will benefit in breaking the political lull in the region.

He also demanded that the Jammu and Kashmir’s Congress President Ghulam Ahmad Mir must be allowed to visit Valley and curbs put on his political activities must be lifted at an earliest. “Mir sahib is among the the senior most political voices of Jammu and Kashmir. Restricting his political activities will not yield any positive outcome and that the need of an hour is that he should be allowed to visit Valley and meet the large supporter base here,” said Kadfeen.

The Congress leader also expressed serious concern over the mounting electricity crises in far flung areas of Kashmir and stated that in spite of the claims about good governance made by the administration, people are reeling under distress and compelled to live in squalid conditions for their no fault (KNS
