Omar Abdullah, party leaders participated in Namaz e Jannazah of noted scholar

Srinagar, Feb 12 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Faoooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday expressed grief over the demise of noted scholar and Grand Mufti of Srinagar Mufti Azam Bashir Ud Din Farooqi sb.
Dr. Farooq while expressing grief over the demise of Mufti Bashir Ud Din said, “Kashmir has lost a towering personality, who had carved a space for himself in the scholarly corridors of Kashmir. His scholarly attainments and penchant for Islamic learning will be remembered for the times to come. I pray for peace to the soul of departed and strength to the grief-stricken family to bear the loss.”
Omar Abdullah while condoling the demise of Grand Mufti said, “Mufti Azam was a known socio-religious personality. He will be remembered for his literary disposition, humanness. May almighty grant Jannah to the soul of departed”
Meanwhile Dr Farooq made a phone call to the Mufti Nasir Ul Islam Farooqi, son of late Mufti Bashir Ud Din Farooqi and personally extended condolences to the bereaved family.
Later party vice president Omar Abdullah, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, senior leader Basharat Bhukhari, District president Srinagar Peer Afaq, Tanvir Sadiq, also participated in the Namaz e Jannazah of the noted scholar at Khankahe Mualaa, Srinagar.
Meanwhile Dr Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rathar, Mian Altaf and provincial spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar have also expressed grief over the demise of noted scholar. The leaders have prayed for peace to the soul of departed and strength to the grief-stricken family to bear the loss. (KNS)
