Srinagar, 23 Sept (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah Wednesday extended warm greetings to Muslims on the auspicious occasion of the Urs-e-Mubarak of Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam Dastgeer, Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA).

Dr Farooq Abdullah said that people across the world hold deep reverence, respect and devotion for the revered saint, whose blessed name continues to be remembered by devotees as a source of divine mercy. He said the teachings, life and spiritual accomplishments of Hazrat Peer Dastgeer (RA) constitute a glorious chapter in Islamic history and remain a source of guidance and inspiration for humanity.

He said Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam (RA) rendered historic services for the propagation and glory of Islam and his spiritual and religious legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.

Party Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended greetings to Muslims across the world, particularly the people of Jammu and Kashmir, on the auspicious occasion. He said the teachings of Hazrat Peer-e-Peeran Dastgeer (RA) serve as a guiding light for the welfare and well-being of humanity.

CM Omar Abdullah prayed for the peace in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed hope that, by the blessings of the revered saint, people would be able to live a life of peace, harmony and prosperity.

Party General Secretary Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar asked the divisional administration to ensure adequate and appropriate arrangements for devotees in view of the annual Urs-e-Mubarak. He stressed the need for uninterrupted drinking water and electricity supply, sanitation and cleanliness, healthcare facilities, and adequate transport arrangements throughout the day.

He also called for suitable arrangements at the historic shrines and religious sites of Hazrat Peer Dastgeer Sahib (RA), Khanyar Sharif; Dargah Ghausia Rahbaba Sahib, Ali Kadal; Ziyarat Dastgeer Sahib (RA), Sarai Bala; Asar-e-Sharief Jenab Sahib, Soura; Rafizabad; Qazi Hamam, Sopore; Noorabad, Kulgam; Panjura, Shopian; Zatchaldara, Kupwara; and other shrines across Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate devotees.(KNS)
