Tangmarg, Sep 14 (KNS): Chairperson J&K Waqf Board and Minister of State Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Monday paid obeisance at the revered Baba Payam-ud-Din Rishi (RA) shrine at Baba Rishi, Tangmarg, and prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Later, Dr Andrabi inaugurated the Shrine Upgradation Project and High-Tech Ambulance Service at the shrine during a special event organised by the J&K Waqf Board.

The shrine upgradation project includes beautification of the shrine complex, upgradation of facilities and foolproof management, aimed at improving amenities for devotees and giving a boost to the overall shrine complex.

Dr Andrabi also reviewed development works, including those at Gulmarg Jamia Masjid, and interacted with the engineering team, stressing timely completion of the projects as per approved plans and protocols.

The visit was attended by senior Waqf Board officers, including Dr Bashir Ahmad Bhat, JKAS, Special Officer Auqaf; Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, JKAS, Executive Magistrate and Tehsildar, J&K Waqf Board; Executive Engineer Er Qazi Mushtaq and other concerned officials.

She said the Waqf Board had adopted a comprehensive approach towards developing its institutions, with emphasis on modern infrastructure, better public amenities, cleanliness, preservation of spiritual heritage and improved facilities for devotees.

“The Waqf Board is undergoing a historic transformation across Jammu and Kashmir. Our endeavour is to ensure that every shrine and Waqf institution reflects development, dignity, cleanliness and efficient public service. We are working to create modern facilities while preserving the rich spiritual and cultural heritage associated with these sacred places,” she said.

Dr Andrabi said the Board’s developmental initiatives were being undertaken across different regions of J&K in a planned and transparent manner.

She said the objective was to ensure that Waqf properties become centres of spirituality, community service and public welfare while retaining their historic character.

She also emphasised collective efforts by Waqf officials, local communities and devotees to maintain the sanctity, cleanliness and dignity of shrines.

Dr Andrabi said the Board would continue to undertake development projects aimed at benefiting devotees and strengthening the institutional infrastructure of Waqf. (KNS)
