Srinagar | August 15 (KNS) : Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board & Minister of State, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, unfurled the Tiranga at the Independence Day Waqf Event held at Sultan-ul-Arifeen Higher Secondary Institute, Srinagar.
The event was attended by Waqf Board Members Dr G N Haleem, Syed Mohammad Hussain, and other prominent people from different walks of life. Special Officer Waqf Board Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Tehsildar & Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin were also present.
In her Independence Day address, the Waqf Board Chairperson said that while drawing inspiration from India’s freedom fighters, there is a commitment to work dedicatedly for making India a developed nation in the coming years as envisioned by the Prime Minister.
"We feel pride in seeing Kashmiri people enthusiastically celebrating the glory of our national flag. It is a reply to those who used to say there will be no one to uphold the Indian flag here. After 2019, J&K witnessed great transformation under the leadership of the LG," Andrabi said.
She also presented a brief sketch of the transformation in the J&K Waqf Board and shared her vision for the future. Andrabi honoured prominent intellectuals and social activists for their contributions in respective fields. Many employees of the Waqf Board from across Kashmir province were felicitated for their exemplary services.
A documentary film on the achievements of the Waqf Board was released on the occasion. Children from various Waqf Board-managed educational institutions presented thematic patriotic performances which were appreciated by the large gathering.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Dr Darakhshan Andrabi stated that Waqf educational institutions are improving at a fast pace and the momentum of development will continue.
The event was anchored by Asrar Nazki, while Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin presented the vote of thanks.(KNS)
